Mighty Cardinal Band Newsletter Vol 8.1, 2007 - 2008
October 8, 2007
Busy couple of weeks coming up as we enter the competition segment of the schedule. For the "Citiscape" show we will need extra parental help. There will be 8 cardboard building creating the city ambiance for the show. The building are light and will need to be anchored by a person standing behind the building. So plan to help out and get the best seat in the house to see the MCB perform it's magic!! This is particularly important for the UIL competition as we will get points deducted if the equipment and props are not remove from the field in a timely manner. Thanks in advance for your help. Separate itineraries for the Game this week and the competition at Blinn will follow.

RE: VOLUNTEERS: We need volunteers to help but together the backdrop to "Cityscapes" which is the title of our show for halftime and contests. It is an ambitious project and we need at least 6-8 adults who will bring a cordless drill ( will use as a screwdriver) to help build the buildings which are large structures that need wooden support. We will have a work project tomorrow night – October 9th- at the band hall starting at 6:00pm and going until about 8:30. We also need students who are willing to work on one of the teams led by an adult – probably 6-8 students. We are trying to get this done by Saturday so that we can use it at the Blinn Contest as a "practice" drill for UIL. We will also need help getting these backdrops on and off the field in a timely manner. Please try to find time to help with this project. Thanks in advance for your supoprt. Call concerning this can be to Betsy Johnson 713-664-8943. Thanks.

· Let's plan to have extra water on hand. Bottles and Ice water. Have your light clothing for marching ready to change into so we can be ready just before 3:45 PM
· Remember, Mr. Huneycutt is my former Assistant and I know we will make him feel at home at Bellaire. He also wrote the drill and music for our band this year.
· Please have all coordinate sheets and drill charts ready BEFORE we start at 3:45 PM at SET #1.
· Follow all instructions the first time given and we will all be very proud of the progress we will make together.
· Please be sure that our parents know that we will release at 6:00. However, it does take approximately 15 minutes for us to travel back to the band hall with equipment.
· Student staff; please make a "Welcome" sign—Thanks!
· There simply cannot be any absences from this rehearsal.
