Dear Students and Band Families,

We welcome you to the Mighty Cardinal Band of 2007-2008!

I'm excited about the opportunity to get to know you, as well, and I'm looking forward to our new challenges and a very successful year. I have already met some of you, and my first impression of our students and parents working together as a team painting the band hall was very impressive!

This year we will focus on the following areas:

• Securing a practice area to use at the end of the school day

• Working as a Team---Always

• Improving our Marching Skills

• Improving our Musical Performance Skills

• Working Hard and Playing Hard (parties, spring trip, etc)

Please be sure to bring the following to the Band Hall on Monday, August 13th   AT 8: 00 AM-to 4:00 PM

• Your instrument in good working condition

• Reeds, Cork Grease, Valve Oil and Slide Grease, etc.

• Medium to large water bottle (Put the water bottle in the freezer the night before with room for expansion.)   ONLY WATER IS ALLOWED!

• VERY cool and loose clothing. Ball Caps are fine. PLEASE bring sunscreen!!!

Upcoming events you should be aware of include:

• Officer Camp                         8:00 AM – 1:00 PM            August 6th - August 10th

• Drumline                                8:00 AM – 1:00PM            August 6th - August 10th

• Woodwinds/Brass/Guard        8:00 AM – 4:00 PM            August 13t - August 24th

• Parent Meeting                        August 13 th, 6:30 PM Sharp!

• (The Parent meeting is mandatory for at least one parent or guardian to attend )

• Pool Party                           August 24 th (Time and place TBA)                 

**All Freshman should attend the AM Cardinal Camp sessions and report immediately back to Band Hall for Band Camp.

Please mark these dates on your calendar. And make it a priority this year to attend all Band practices and events.   Please see Mr. Sullivan prior to any scheduling conflict.

We welcome parents and visitors to our Band Hall only, and we always appreciate parents volunteering to help out with activities before the students' field practice is in session or dismissed.   Of course, we will all work as a team to make sure our band is prepared with everything it needs to be successful.    It's always nice for parents to take turns bringing Popsicles, ETC. for our Band Members after marching practice.   If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me by e-mail or my cell phone 281-844-4459.  I do prefer and welcome appointments to meet in person.
